And by rockin’, I actually mean folding, by ‘it,’ I mean t-shirts, and by Navy Style, I still mean Navy Style. Now, I know you’re probably like “Whaaat? How do you fold shirts ‘Navy Style’? What does this mean, and is this girl on crack?” The answer is no, I am not on crack, I just didn’t get much sleep last night. The rest will be revealed momentarily.

You see, I’m not a big fan of dressers. For other people, they’re fine I’m sure, but the drawers always offer me to much space to throw things in them that don’t belong there, and before you know it the all the drawers have turned into half junk drawers, half clothes drawers. Also, dressers nicer dressers tend to not be too too cheap.

So I was very pleased to find this Expedit shelving unit at Ikea, for only $70. Wanna know the best part? You can buy drawer-like inserts like these to put in the shelves, and viola! You have just turned a bookshelf, into a dresser. We also laid the shelves horizontally, to that all the drawer inserts were easily accessible (see end of post).

Now, I know that it might not seem like there’s a lot of space of clothes in the drawers, but thats wear folding t-shirts Navy Style, comes into play. Follow steps shown to the right (click to see it a bit bigger).

If it’s hard for you to see whats going on, here are some brief directions: Bottoms up, sleeve in, top down, bottoms up again, and fold in half. Bam. That’s how the Navy does it. And I’m not making that up. That’s how the Navy made AJ fold his shirts during boot camp. And now that’s how we fold all t-shirts.

Anyways, as you can see, once the shirt is all nicely folded, it’s only about twice the size of my hand, and can easily fit with about thirty others into my awesome “dresser” drawers. And it stays organised and neat, and I have no room to mess it up for myself. Yay!
